Jidaigeki Renaissance Project/JRP

The Jidaigeki Renaissance Project is a project aimed at promoting the city of Kyoto, which is known to be origin of Jidaigeki films, on an international scale. The ultimate goal is to foster interest overseas in the beauty, excitement and serenity that can be found in Kyoto.

In an effort to help people around the world appreciate the charm and appeal of both Kyoto and the Jidaigeki films to which the city has given birth, a team of ten members has been assembled. Based in Toei Kyoto Studio Park, this team is fluent in 9 different languages (Japanese, English, Chinese, Taiwanese, Korean, French, German, Italian and Spanish).

Methods of promotion include, but are not limited to, the use of multimedia such as Twitter and blogs, the creation and distribution of walking maps (FUNKYOTO), joint projects with overseas amusement parks, facilities and venues, efficient use of tourist and travel data gathered through research and surveys etc. , and various I.C.T. (Information and Communication Technology) based projects.

Commissioned by Kyoto prefecture this project is a joint venture between Toei Kyoto Studio Co., Ltd., Intage Inc. and Beans Co., Ltd.
